Corrections Policy

Last updated: March 11, 2026

Close a Company is committed to accuracy and transparency in all our content. When errors occur, we correct them promptly and clearly. This policy explains how we handle corrections in our guides, blog posts, and other content.

1. Our Commitment to Accuracy

We research all content using primary sources — official government websites, state Secretary of State offices, the IRS, the SBA, and state departments of revenue. We verify filing requirements, fees, deadlines, and procedures against these sources before publication.

For more information about our editorial process, see our Editorial Policy.

2. Types of Corrections

Factual Errors

Corrections for factual errors include: – Incorrect information — Anything that is factually wrong (fees, form names, deadlines, procedures) – Outdated information — Requirements that have changed since publication – Incomplete information — Missing steps or requirements that should have been included – Broken links — Links to government forms or resources that no longer work

Minor Errors

Minor corrections include: – Typographical errors – Grammatical errors – Formatting issues – Broken internal links

Minor errors are corrected without a formal correction notice unless they affect meaning.

3. How We Handle Corrections

For Blog Posts and Web Content

When we correct a factual error in a blog post or web page:

  1. We update the content — The incorrect information is replaced with accurate information
  2. We add a correction notice — A note is added at the top or bottom of the article indicating what was corrected and when
  3. We update the “Last updated” date — The page displays the correction date

Correction notice format: > Correction (Date): This article was updated to correct [brief description of what was changed].

For Downloadable Products (Guides and Templates)

When we correct errors in our downloadable products:

  1. We update the file — A corrected version is created
  2. We notify customers — Customers who purchased the product receive an email notification
  3. We update the version — The product version number is incremented
  4. Customers can re-download — Customers can access the updated version from their account at no additional cost

We maintain a changelog for major product updates, documenting significant corrections and improvements.

For State-Specific Content

State dissolution requirements change frequently. When a state updates its requirements:

  1. We verify the change — We confirm the new requirement against official state sources
  2. We update affected content — Blog posts, state guides, and related materials are revised
  3. We publish updates — Updated content is published with a clear indication of the change

4. Version History for Products

Our major downloadable products include version information:

  • Version number — Indicates the edition of the product
  • Publication date — When that version was released
  • Change summary — Notable updates and corrections

Customers always have access to the most current version through their account.

HighBroken links to essential government forms or resourcesWithin 3–5 business days
MediumOutdated but non-critical informationWithin 1–2 weeks
LowMinor typos or formatting issuesAs part of regular content updates

8. Transparency About Limitations

Some types of content cannot be updated as quickly:

  • Downloaded PDF files — Customers must re-download to get corrections
  • Printed materials — If you printed a guide, check the website for updates
  • Third-party content — We link to government websites that we do not control

We encourage customers to check our website periodically for updates, especially before filing any documents.

9. No Retrospective Changes to Core Claims

We do not silently change the substantive claims or recommendations in our content without clear correction notices. If our guidance on a topic fundamentally changes, we: – Add a prominent update notice – Explain what changed and why – Preserve the correction history when significant

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Corrections Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date.
